Acoustic Project
Just wanna share with you guys a lil something i did back in 2006. I've always wanted to post it up, but its just that i didn't really have the time to do so. Anyways its an acoustic project recording that i had to do as one of my assignments in my college (SAE MALAYSIA). The singers name is Melissa Toh, an old friend of mine that i knew since i was in high school. I recorded and mixed the track together with Krishna Sam a.k.a DJ Kikis. It's the cover of Vertical Horizon - You're A God. I think this girl really have some talent and i really like her voice. Anyways hope you guys enjoy this one.

The Music Scene
Hey whats up people...its been awhile since i last updated anything at all on the blog, been really busy with quite a number of things lately...Anyways i thought of sharing something with you all out there today...people who love music in general...you have to seriously watch this.. I'm not sure if any of you have come across this vid on youtube. Its basically sampled video's and sound. Which is really very interesting. Its got good rythm, good bass lines, and beautiful melodies. Just check it out.
I think that the world seriously needs this kind of music...I mean the way this guy produced it was just incredible...he's a freakin genius for all i know...and i think that's how hip hop should sound like too...going back to basics. Personally i really hate the direction of where the mainstream hiphop is going. When you have artist such as Akon, Flo Rida, Kanye West...and all these other dumbass hiphop/rap artist coming up with a lot of cheap and shitty music, the quality of music in general starts to go bad too. All they are trying to do right now is to make sure that they can come out with a number 1 club hit, and it seems to be the easiest way to make it to the top. I still love listening to hip hop music just not as much as i used to anymore. Nowadays i try to listen to stuff from Lupe Fiasco, DJ Shadow, the producer known as 9th Wonder, The Roots, and mainly a lot of underground artist. I think hiphop has lost its soul. And i hate watching MTV as well...because especially for hiphop music, everything in it is about sex, girls, cars, and money...i mean...is that really what hiphop is all about..??? Come on man...back in the 80's this genre of music started off as a way to express the black community's oppresion. So in a way its hiphop is like the punk music of the black community which is in other words "Anti Establishment/ Goverment". So i think its about time that people like the guy that produced the video, actually showcase his talent. I really do hope somehow someway, that mainstream hiphop in the future would regain its soul. By the way just a fun fact to know, for all those people that listens to hiphop or rap music, did you know that rap is actually an abbreviation for "Rythm and Peotry"...? Think about it.

So this is pretty much my second mix that i've posted up. Just completed it not about 1 hour ago from the time this is being posted up. For this mix, i pretty much wanted to showcase the other kinds of tracks that is out there. I really like the tech stuff as well as the progressive tracks. The basslines really play a big part in the tracks. After all, dance music is all about the bass isn't it?
For this mix i did not use any CDJ's of any sort...everything was all done on Ableton Live 7. I've always been interested in learning how to use it to mix, and i finally got it. Anyways i hope that you enjoy it as i did as much as making it. Feel free to give me any feedbacks of any sort. I'll say it again, i would really appreciate some constructive critism. :-)
Oh and by the way, if you guys really do like it feel free to share it with your friends! Would really appreciate it!

My First DJ set released online
Hey whats up people? Just want u guys to know that I'll be using this page to pretty much get my music out there. I've done quite a number of mixes in the past and played in a few clubs in KL. I've been really busy with college lately, tons of assignments and work to be done. But in the mean time i still really wanted to persue my dj-ing career. So i thought what better way to get my mixes out there by setting up a blog and allowing people to download it as well. The music genre that i spin is mainly trance. I have a very deep passion for trance music. I do spin other stuff as well like house, electro and progressive. Anything that pretty much has a 4/4 beat to it. Anything else BUT hip hop and r n b. Its not that i hate it so much, its more like, to me i personally feel that hip hop and r n b music production and quality wise has dropped a lot...i would even say that it has pretty much evolved itself into pop music. Dont get me wrong, i still do listen to it...just not the mainstream stuff...
Anyways enough about that, i'll just tell u a lil history background about myself...the first time i actually got into Trance music, i think i was about 15 years old. A good friend of mine (Tomas) was listening to his CD player, and i asked him what was he listening to. I cant really remember what he said, but i remember putting the earphones on and playing the track from the beginning. By the way that track title is "Children - Robert Miles". As soon as i heard to first piano riff, it just hit me. So that was pretty much the start of my journey into discovering the art of trance music. Although i know that that track is not exactly classified as trance, instead its classified as dream house...but i was 15, and my knowledge of music wasn't very wide. Ever since then i have always been interested in the whole DJ-ing culture. The first time i started clubbing was when i was 15 as well. But i never really got around on learning DJ-ing/mixing until i graduated secondary school. After the whole SPM examinations i had to go for NS (National Service). Was there for 3 months. And when i came back a friend of mine (Nicholas) told me that Tiesto was coming down and was having a rave. This was 2006 by the way. So i went, i saw, and i decided there and then that i'm gonna learn DJ-ing. It was at that particular point where something in me just told me that i needed to do just that. I know it sounds cliche' and what not. But its the fact. Oh and by the way, its not like i freaking worship Tiesto and all that and its thats why i wanted to become a DJ. To me I personally think that the greatest part of DJ-ing is when you actually get the crowd pumped up and ready to party and the coolest thing about it is dance music actually brings people together. THAT was why i really wanted to do it.
6 years has gone by and here i am now. Currently studying at SAE Malaysia (School of Audio Engineering) (www.saemalaysia.com) and finishing my final year (Diploma). I haven't produced anything solid just yet. Still searching for my kind of sounds actually. So anyways enough with the whole intro and all that crap, hope u guys enjoy the mix.
